Apprenticeships

Sembcorp offers a practical route to a successful career in the process industries.

The company offers apprenticeships in various disciplines including in many administrative areas, HR and IT.

However we are particularly effective in offering apprenticeships for those interested in developing engineering and process orientated skills. Sembcorp is one of the key sponsors of the Tees Valley Production Technician (TVPT) studentship run by the TTE Technical Training Group, the UK’s largest technical training organisation for the process industries. TVPT is an initiative devised and driven by all the major process industry companies in the area including those in the chemical, petrochemical, energy, pharmaceutical and oil and gas sectors.

TVPT combines practical and technical training in process technology with engineering skills – mechanical, electrical and instrumentation - and equips talented and motivated young people with the skills they need to run modern process plant and equipment.

It is a four year Advanced Apprenticeship programme offering youngsters aged 16-19 the chance to earn as they learn. The first two years are spent at TTE, which works in partnership with Redcar and Cleveland College of Further Education, with the final two years spent working on the assets of the sponsoring company on Teesside.

Young people gain important qualifications throughout their training and have the chance to study at Teesside University from the fourth year onwards with many going on to complete degrees afterwards.
